Happy Fourth of July! I hope everyone enjoys great food, fun in the sun and a beautiful fireworks display! If you need a quick and delicious recipe to bring to a party, check out my post yesterday to get the recipe for this delicious appetizer:
I tried to add a little red, white, and blue into my eats yesterday for What I Ate Wednesday (WIAW)! Thanks again to Jenn for hosting WIAW. For those of you who don’t know, Jen over at Peas and Crayons hosts WIAW every week – check out her blog for more information on it.

Breakfast was red, white, and blue overnight oats – old fashioned oats, vanilla chobani, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, blueberries and strawberries.
For a mid-morning snack, I had a few of these pomegranate yogurt pretzels that I picked up at a new grocery store that opened nearby. I had never seen pomegranate yogurt pretzels before! So good!
Lunch
Lunch was a strawberry spinach salad from a cafe near my office. It was good, but for some reason, a salad never completely fulfills me for lunch.
I had an unusual pre-dinner snack – a chocolate cookie monster malted milkshake! Luke and I went to look at a washer and dryer set after work and happened to drive by an ice cream shop on the side of the road. I have had a sore throat the past couple of days, so a milkshake sounded perfect. Who says you can’t have dessert before dinner?
Dinner
Dinner was not the healthiest… We went out to a local restaurant called The Puritan that is known for it’s comfort food. Comfort food is rarely healthy! I ordered the Greek Mac ‘N Cheese and had a few of Luke’s chicken tenders (which they are famous for) and sweet potato fries. The mac n’ cheese did come with a side salad and had spinach and scallions in it, so I got a few veggies in! We ended up bringing over half of it home. I think I was still stuffed when I woke up this morning!
And that’s what I ate Wednesday Tuesday!
My night ended with some July 4th fireworks! Enjoy the holiday and I’ll be back tomorrow with a great new burger recipe!
Looks like some fabulous eats! So yummy!!! Happy Fourth! Have a great day! That salad looks awesome! They’re all I’ve been wanting lately!

Comfort food is worth it every now and again 🙂
They may not of been the most healthiest choices, but hey it’s summer time… and if you want a milkshake, go for it.. and if your in the mood for comfort food, go for it. It’s not going to hurt 🙂
**Oh and I saw the new turkey burger recipe.. looks delicious!!

Yep – sometimes we need to indulge :). And thanks!
