Growing Your Own Green Onions is Super Easy!

Did I mention how BEAUTIFUL it is outside today? 68 and sunny. Life is good! Teddy and I took advantage of the weather and went for a nice long walk.

If you read my post this morning on how to make Simple Sesame Noodles, I mentioned I was going to tell you how to grow green onions right in your own kitchen. It’s probably the easiest vegetable to grow inside your house. All you do is follow these steps:

1) Next time you use green onions, don’t throw out the bottom (last three inches, white part) when you’re done chopping.

2) Put the green onion stem, root side down, into a small glass filled with water halfway up the plant.

3) Put it anywhere in your house and let it grow!  We keep ours right on our kitchen table and they grow beautifully.

A week later, the green onions will have grown to be as long as when you bought them, really!

3rd day, 5th day, 8th day

Pretty cool, huh?

Whoa, what a cool tip! I had no idea you could do that, but I’m definitely going to start my own green onion “garden”! It sounds like one of the few things I’d be able to keep alive 🙂
