How about a sweet treat to jumpstart your weekend?
Before I made my own granola, I always bought Bear Naked Heavenly Chocolate Granola. So. Good. Then one day, I saw these Bare Naked cookies at the store:
Yes, please! I loved them! Not only were they incredibly delicious, but they were fairly healthy too. The only problem? They can be very pricey. So, I set out to make my own.
It was an overwhelming success! They may have even been the best cookies I’ve ever made. Luke kept repeating, “These are really really good.” I’ve been eating one (or two) a day.
I actually compared the nutritional value of my cookies to the Bear Naked ones, and they were almost identical. Bear Naked uses slightly less sugar, and I mean slightly as in barely noticeable.
If you’re a chocolate lover and want to indulge in a sweet treat you don’t have to feel guilty about, give these a try!
First, preheat your oven to 350. Mix the canola oil and yogurt together. Then add the sugar, vanilla and eggs and stir until well combined.
Mix the whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, oats and chia seeds in a large bowl.
Then add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
Finally, mix in the chocolate chips.
Spoon the mixture onto a greased baking sheet and bake at 350 for 12 minutes.
Let them cool for 5 minutes.
Enjoy!

I had no idea they did cookies too – their cherry vanilla granola is the best…now you have me wondering if I can tweak this recipe to do a cherry vanilla oat cookie inspired by the bear naked granola!
Post the recipe if you do – that sounds good!
I am impressed!!! I don’t know if I would be able to copy a recipe like that.
They look just delicious!

It was relatively loose copying but it worked 🙂 – that’s why I was surprised the nutritional info was so similar!
Oooh I LOVE this idea!! These look so delicious 🙂

I made this for dinner today, it came together so quick and everyone loved it! Including Mr. Picky 4 year old that won’t eat anything besides hash browns and chicken nuggets. Thanks for a great recipe!!

So glad you and your little guy liked it!
Could I sub flax seed for Chia seeds? Would there be a noticeable difference?
I think you probably could – or you could just omit the chia seeds. Flax seeds are bigger than chia seeds, so you may notice them in the cookies more (you can hardly notice the chia seeds).
Thanks Caroline!
